Operation and Installation of a Concrete Subsurface

     -IMPORTANT-

The quality of the foundation greatly influences the longevity of the surface and how much care is put in over a lifetime.  It certainly would be a mistake to choose a cheaper foundation for a Flex Court® plastic surface to just "save a few bucks". At least the foundation should be built with the best MARL and the best Hard-Surfacing material.  It is also recommended that a smooth finish coat with a water seal agent be applied.

The size of your subsurface should be at least 1" larger than the actual size of the court you desire.  In other words if you which to have a court that measures 40' x 80' specify to the contractor that you wish the subsurface to be 40'1"x 80' 1".  A pitch of anywhere from 1"-10" surrounding the perimeter of the court is recommended for proper drainage.

The thickness of the layers must be determined by the installer in accordance with soil and climate conditions. It is important that the hard-cover layer is flat. Perfect grading is essential. Also pay attention that the sun cannot soften, nor can rain wash out the top layer!
