Sometimes it’s the things you don’t see that can make all the difference! Below is a side by side photo of the underside of the AERO FLEXä multipurpose sports floor tile, and another leading brands indoor sports tile. The other leading brand uses a closed suspension structure. Notice how the honey-comb shapes found on the other leading brands tile are all sealed from one honey comb to the next. Now look at the open suspension design of the AERO FLEX tile. The open suspension labyrinth design of the AERO FLEX tiles doesn’t seal off one compartment to the next instead it opens all compartments for air to easily flow and evaporate should moisture invade the seams of the tile. And make no mistake no matter how tight the seal may appear to be from one tile to the next, liquids and moisture will invariably find their way through tile seams. Q. If liquids were to make their way through the seams of the other leading brands tile what happens? A. Because of it’s closed cell construction, and the fact that the top of the tile is a smooth surface which doesn’t permit air flow, the tile simply wont allow the moisture to evaporate, rather it will accumulate and seep into the rubber underlayment. Once the underlayment is saturated it forms a perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. The tile itself can then buckle and begin emitting a foul odor. The AERO FLEX tile on the other hand addresses this problem, not only by allowing the tile to breath underneath the tile but through to the surface as well. Small slits precisely formed in the top of the tile allow for moister to quickly evaporate; while at the same time prevents liquids from flowing through the top of the tile.
