Basketball Court Diagram & Layout Dimensions

Basketball court diagram dimensions are as follows:

#1 NBA/NCAA - regulation diagram dimensions are 94' long by 50' wide.

#2 High School diagram layout size dimensions measure 84' long by 50' wide.

#3 Jr. High School diagram layout size dimensions measure 74'  long and 42'  wide.

Please bear in mind that the above basketball court diagram dimensions listed above are playing surface only measurements and do not include any "out of bounds" area of the basketball court.  Out of bounds measurements are subjective and are not specified in any regulation basketball court size however a good rule of thumb is to add 5'-7' to the sides of the court and 10-14' to the main goal sides for an out of bounds area.

A key dimension for equipment installation purposes is the distance from the baseline to the face of the backboard. In a setting where sanctioned play will occur the dimension from the baseline to the face of the backboard will be 4'. Obviously if your goal is to insert a pole type basketball system in a residential setting this option could significantly lessen the playing area . As mentioned above 4' is the rule for sanctioned play but in a residential setting the closer you can get to this dimension without significantly diminishing the playing area is preferred.

The rim height shall be 10' from the playing surface to the top of the goal.

Basketball Court Dimensions & Equipment Product Selection

Another key dimension for NBA/NCAA approved portable stanchion systems is at least an 8' runnout.  This is the distance from the front of the base of unit to face of the backboard.
